Day 226 - 1/28/11

I love childhood memories. Pokemon was probably my favorite. My friend Barry was Ash Ketchum for Halloween on year and I found his hat while we were hanging out at his apartment. Pokemon is so boss though. Such a wonderful and creative idea. Looking at all the different types of pokemon now, as a biology major, I realize how clever those creators were. Bulbasuar was a combination of a carnivore and an angiosperm. My friend and I would sit in biology class and actually talk biology terms with pokemon. It made those lectures somewhat entertaining. Even the some of the names clearly took advantage of the English language. Girafarig, the giraffe psychic pokemon, is actually a palindrome. Ditto was a little pink blob that would transform into anything it saw, much like the definition of ditto which means "to copy." Man, they were so clever. I apologize for the nerdyness but I truly believe Pokemon will be one of the few shows that will last the test of time. There are too many beautiful quirks that everyone can find joy in.

There are even more hidden secrets I have yet to discover...well I guess I have to catch em' all!
