Day 30 - 7/17/10

After a day of interstate driving, trailer hitching, searching for Sam's Club in Lake Charles, getting rain on, and 2-hour rain delays, I would like to announce the day is done...almost. Oh, where to begin? It started off early, not bright and early, but early. The sun happens to still be sleeping at 4 AM. After a 2-hour drive to Sulphur,LA, we arrived at the ball park. The first game of two that day: Alexandria vs. Ruston. We won 5-4 in a (what seems to be) typical dramatic fashion: last bat, clutch walk-off double to right field crushing the hearts of the Ruston faithful. It's tends to be stressful yet, satisfying. Afterwards, we went on a search for a Sam's Club in Lake Charles for an outdoor furniture set to put on the balcony. This is where the trailer hitching/driving comes in...today was the first time I ever drove with a trailer hitched. Allow me to say that it takes some getting used to. Everything just feels slower. Later on that afternoon we came back to ballpark for the second game against Bossier City. All was going well unless Tropical Storm (or maybe it's a hurricane now) whats-her-face decided to make it flood. And this lead to the wonderful 2 hour rain delay. Probably the best part was seeing the Bossier City team use the artificial infield as a slip n' slide and seeing this dude completely faceplant. In the end, we lost due to infield errors. We basically beat ourselves but this is probably the reality check moment the team needed. Tomorrow is another trip back to Sulphur for more baseball and whatever else might happen.
