Day 6 - 6/23/10

"She's always buzzin' just like neon, neon" -John Mayer

Why yes, Las Vegas does. When the sun goes away, the neon comes out to play. Ask anyone on the strip; they'll tell you. The real Vegas does not get to show off until after hours. The visual eye candy is just phenomenal. Today, the family and I went to visit the Circus Circus hotel. This is probably the most family-friendly hotel on the strip. It sticks to its theme very well. Everywhere you look there is the sense of carnival life: clowns riding mo-peds through the lobbies, the smell of caramel popcorn, and even its own indoor amusement park. It is truly unique. Afterward, we took a quick visit to the MGM Grand and somehow, some way I ended up viewing and rating a new cooking show pilot for CBS. My mom has us do the weirdest things sometimes, but the free stuff at the end of it was nice. Finally, we took a trip downtown to the Fremont St. Experience to just soak in the lights and the party, live music included. Wow, it was a long day. I think I'm going to pass out from exhaustion now.

P.S. This is completely unrelated but it was too important to not blog about. Today is a beautiful day to be a fan of U.S. soccer. We have advanced out of group play into the knockout stages. We have won our group for the first time since 1930. And most importantly, Landon Donovan came through in the clutch and scored the goal of my lifetime. I will NEVER forget that goal. The moment has come for all those loyal to U.S. soccer. If you haven't caught on yet, now is a good time to start.
