First off, THIS IS NOT AS BAD IT LOOKS. The forest did not burn down. I did not piss of Smokey the Bear, I promise. For my friend's birthday, we decided to lit a big bonfire and this is just the beginning of the process. We had water hoses again and everything. Once you let the fire build, it eventually calms down as most of the underbrush is burned away. It was pretty awesome though.
