After a fun and relaxing weekend in Ruston, I came back to Alexandria. Thus, I have to get started on my Spring Study, not Break, but Study. I wish I could tell you I was going to the beach or somewhere more exciting but this semester didn't work out like that. I have my final organic chemistry exam the Wednesday I get back to Baton Rouge. It's a big test for me. If I manage to keep my current A average, I can skip the final and I may possibly be the happiest person on planet Earth. Other side projects this week include studying for my IT management class and reading through the book above.
I started reading Emma about a week ago and so far, it's not too terrible. It is definitely a feminine book but that is no surprise to me since pretty much every novel I've read this semester in English has been feminist. I do like Emma though. There are some funny moments. It has been said that Jane Austen is the master of the romantic comedy. Pretty much all of her novels have been interpreted in major motion pictures. The movie Clueless is actually a modern interpretation of Emma. I am pretty convinced that Jane Austen mastered the whole idea of "boy meets girl, boy loses girl, boy gets girl back" storytelling.
Even though I will be doing homework for the majority of my Spring Break, I will still enjoy the time off. This week is just a perfect time for me to refocus and take my time. I don't have to rush or juggle everything. I took a nap today for the first time in a while because I wanted to, not because it was an accident. It feels good.
