Day 276 - 3/19/11

What a crazy night! Tonight was my grandmother and little brother's joint birthday party. If you recalled my previous post from St. Patrick's Day, my grandmother has turned 75 and my little brother turns 15 on the 15th of March so my mom always throws one big party for both of them. And big would be an understatement. There are probably about 40 people here, a parade of cars down the street, and dance music blaring from within my house. If you don't know anything about the concept of Philipino parties, just know that the food is amazing and plentiful. It is literally a feast and I will probably be bringing leftovers back to school with me. Currently, I sitting on the balcony taking a break from all of the people, food, and dare I say, zumba dancing. I keep thinking about the number 75 in my mind. Mathematically you could say it's 3/4 of a century, but I feel 75 means so much more. As passionate as I am about silly things like March Madness brackets, awesome headphones, dubstep, and LSU athletics, just being around someone with such a wise and beautiful mind as grandmother's really has enlightened my idea of living. It is awe-inspiring to see how many people you can connect with in your lifetime and tonight was a culmination of those people who are blessed and honored to have their paths intertwine with hers. I hope when I turn 75 that I could have a fraction of the impact my grandmother has had on people in her life.
