Day 247 - 2/18/11
So guess what I did tonight? As a pending member of Knights of Columbus, I was invited to work the concessions stands at the LSU vs. Wake Forest home opener. It was a record crowd of 10,500+ that attended that night. And it was one of the most unique experiences I have ever done in my life. I was in charge of the hot dog making, and man, do baseball fans love their hotdogs. They are forever married. I think I probably cooked, bunned, and wrapped at least 500 hotdogs tonight. I probably will never want to make or eat another hotdog for the rest of the year. It gets so crazy though. You know LSU is on defense because all the fans decide to get food. But it is what happened after all the hotdogs were sold, that was amazing. While everyone was finishing up counting supplies and determining profit, a few of us decided to go look around the stadium. We eventually ended up being able to step on the hollowed grounds of the 2009 College World Series champion LSU Tigers. As a group, we ran around the bases. I personally run the bases in 18 seconds so its not completely terrible. I even took a slide into a base. I have the massive dirt mark and bruise on my thigh to prove it. That dirt is definitely not soft. Overall, it was such a great night and one that I will remember forever. I can cross this off my "bucket list": Step foot on Championship grounds.
