Yeahhh, here is a self-portrait in your typical "myspace" or "facebook" style. Note how my left arm is cut off in the photo because I was holding the camera. Also, note my attempt to look candid and nonchalant and how my face shows NEITHER expression. Oh well... ; )
There was nothing really exciting or groundbreaking that occurred to me today. It was your typical day. I went to class. I attended my Leading Edge meeting. I read some books for school. Besides catching a glimpse of the State of the Union Address on TV and having Buffalo Wild Wing-y goodness with my friends, today was uneventful. On that note, I want to say something about the State of the Union. Regardless of your current political stance on current events, I have always observed this common occurrence during every SOTU: there is entirely TOO MUCH clapping and standing ovations. Every other sentence that President Obama would say ended with a standing o. Not that I don't think he shouldn't be applauded by his peers but I feel it always takes away from the flow of the speech. The SOTU is his address to us; I rather let him say every he needs to say then applaud at the end. Imagine if I received a standing ovation every other sentence in this blog...
It would probably sound like this...
Well hello today was quite boring...APPLAUSE...why are we applauding? APPLAUSE. There you go again. I promise you my life really isn't that exciting...Standing Ovation. All I try to do day in and day out is find something noteworthy to talk about...APPLAUSE (nod of approval by Hilary Clinton). Blah Blah Blah...today's photo is about yada yada...APPLAUSE (John Kerry and Bobby Jindal fist pumping; who am I kidding? Republicans are too conservative to fist pump. That course of action is reserved for those New Jersey Democrats). I'm not really contributing anything thought provoking in this mini monologue...APPLAUSE....roast beef sandwich...GRAND FINALE Standing Ovation.
Please pardon my horrible attempt to mimic that setting but that is my biggest turnoff. The solution is simple: hold your applause, but then again this is government.
