Day 219 - 1/21/11

I love getting packages through the mail. In this case, it was the rest of my books and wait for it...my ATLANTA FALCONS shirt! Call me petty and silly. Please don't remind me of the Atlanta massacre by Green Bay last weekend either. But, there is just something nostalgic and old-fashioned about snail mail. Nostalgic and old-fashioned may be synonymous terms but that does not take away from the uniqueness of knowing something from far away found you.

As far as tonight, my friends and I attended the LSU Gymnastics meet. Gymnastics? R.D? They don't fit together at first glance, huh?  Mr. "I love everything football/basketball/soccer" attending a dominantly feminine sporting event. Odd, right? Let me just say that although I may not have a new appreciation of women's gymnastics, I have a new respect for it. The only time I ever even thought of gymnastics was around the Olympics. I always thought it was an odd combination of a beauty pageant and flipping contest. However, there is an interesting atmosphere around it. These girls are awesome. Their body control on the ground and in the air is simple second to none. I can hardly do a cartwheel or flip on a trampoline and these girls are floating and twisting aimlessly in space. They truly embody the term "defying gravity." I am enlighten even thinking about it.
