Day 133 - 10/28/10

So I apologize for the bland blogging lately. I've just been super busy with school and by the time I get time to sit down and think...I just get writer's block. Also, I realize that most of my pictures are being taken at night. Again, it is just due to hectic schedule I put myself though. I going to try experimenting with photos taken at various times of the day. Hopefully, it will be a refreshing change of pace.

As far as today goes, I am pretty content. The week is almost over. I always look forward to Thursday merely because I can feel everything start to slow down. I only have one class early in the morning tomorrow so I just focus on that. Speaking of scheduling, I got around to organizing what classes I would like to take for the next semester. I officially sign up for classes next Tuesday (Nov. 2) so I'm glad I have it all straightened out so the process is smoothly done. The LSU website has a notorious reputation for being slow or otherwise crashing on major scheduling days so scheduling as early and as fast as possible is key.

As much as I would like to take a class in Slacking Off or Bumper Stickers like the South Harmon Institute of Technology (get the reference?), I think my spring semester is my best scheduled to date. My course is as follows:

English 2050 - General Fiction
I not necessarily a big literature fanatic but I find classic fiction to be interesting. This class is pretty much going to cover every great era of fiction. Renaisance, Modern, Twain. I'm a sucker for a cohesive and fluid novel.

Biology 2051 - Microbiology
This is the bread and butter of my major. Life begins and ends within a cell. I can imagine it is going to be a memorize and apply concept sort of class but what biology isn't? Also, I hear the lab is one of best LSU has to offer.

Chemistry 2262 - Organic Chemistry II
Oh joy. If I didn't love being in organic right now, I will sure love being in it again. Organic is one of those classes, like or not, that just have to be muscled through. Large scale grading spreads and molecule visualization are required but I hear the teacher gives out plenty of bonus point opportunities. I like bonus points. And I think everything is beginning to click. I've put plenty of hours into organic so far and it isn't too bad.

Chemistry 2364 - Organic Chemistry Lab
This falls under the same category as Microbiology lab. I really enjoyed the first Chemistry lab. I still remember the day we played with liquid nitrogen. Chem lab is pretty neat.

Mus 2000 - History of Jazz
I am really excited about this class. I needed another Humanities course and this one counts. In this class, I will analyze the components of jazz music and learn its history. As a saxophone player, I am absolutely giddy. Louie Armstrong. Charlie Parker. Jazz has influenced every style of music. And I find this class a nice change of pace from my science heavy course load.

ISDS 3100 - Management of Information Resources
This class is on my path to receiving my minor in IT Management. I decided to minor in that because I wanted to add a new wrinkle to my degree. Minors make you stand out. I don't want to blend with the thousands of other biology majors applying for med school. This class is going to be interesting though because it is 100% web based. I have never took an online course but I find myself to be computer savvy so I'll get it a shot.

18 hours total. That is around the optimum course load for me. Hopefully I can get it all on my schedule.
