OK, OK, OK. I know I'm late. But you have to hear me out. I just got back from probably the greatest musical moment of my life. The guy to the left is my buddy Bryson. The guy to right is Jon Foreman. Yes, Jon Foreman, the lead singer of Switchfoot. And just to prove that Bryson and I are friends, look at this. He owes me forever for capturing this moment.
But how did we get to this point where one of my musically heroes is nonchalantly playing in the BCM courtyard at 12:15AM? Well, it started with the concert at the varsity obviously. The Almost opened and playing an awesome set. Aaron Gillespie is such an awesome singer.
Then we got to the main event, Switchfoot. Honestly, this was the best concert I've ever experienced in my entire life. Maybe it was the fact the set was filled with every single favorite song I knew. Maybe it was the fact I was in the 2nd row and Joe Foreman grabbed my hand twice mid-performance. It was like being touched by an angel. An angel of alternative rock. Every song was a unique experience. When you have Jon Foreman running through the crowd singing, it's going to be a performance of a lifetime. Watch this for yourself.
And finally, Switchfoot has a tradition. A tradition in which only the true dedicated fans know. After every show, all those fans who wait by the bus are treated to a special surprise. Jon Foreman plays his acoustic set. We just followed him across the street into a courtyard where to played an additional 5 songs. Including my absolute favorite, twenty-four. And this brings us back to why I was late posting this. If you aren't going to cut me a break, forget you. Most people would die to experience the night I just had and I can honestly say things are incredibly great. Thanks to all my friends who came out of town and my friends in Baton Rouge for joining me in this moment. And thank you to Switchfoot for impacting my life with your message of love and hope.
I'll try to stick to the schedule better from now on ;)
