Day 104 - 9/29/10

More Bokeh. Today has been a roller coaster ride of a day. First off, let me say the Anberlin concert was awesome. I might put a picture slide show separate to the photo of the day on another post when I get those ready. My first genetics exam went well. I made an 87 on exam...but wait? My exam was actually graded incorrectly. I let my TA know so actually my grade was a 93. That's how I like it. However, in conjunction with the roller coaster theme, I definitely had a major low. I, R.D. Mira, had his car towed today. I am not proud or happy about it at all. Apparently last night, I parked in a restricted zone and I was not aware of it. In most cases, LSU parking would just ticket you and left your car be. That's the case for most my friends who have had parking violations but I guess my car was just lucky enough to be towed. I know it's my fault so I'm not going to blame anyone except myself. It's a shot to my confidence and my wallet. Lastly, I went to the first Campus Kitchens meeting for this year. Campus Kitchens is a student organization where we cook food in a kitchen and feed the homeless. It is a really neat project. There are three keys to the mission of Campus Kitchens:

1) Strengthen Bodies by using existing resources to meet hunger and nutritional needs in our community.
2) Empower Minds by providing leadership and service learning opportunities to students, and educational benefits to adults, seniors, children, and families in need.
3) Build Communities by fostering a new generation of community-minded adults through resourceful and mutually beneficial partnerships among students, social service agencies, businesses, and schools.

Overall, this is probably the biggest leadership opportunity ever placed in front of me. This organization is still in the early stages and I want to help it grow. I want to be part of the braintrust that launches this organization off the ground. And I believe in the message. Nobody should go to bed hungry.
